NORTHSIDE
The Northside Club

The Akron Cigar Club was treated to a night of entertainment at the Northside located at 111 North Main St. in Akron.  Those members in attendance enjoyed live music provided by the versatile and talented Mike Lentz.   http://www.mikelenz.com/ .

The ambiance of this historic structure along with the great selection of food and drink made this a herf to remember.  Management went out of their way to welcome our members and the service was excellent.

The Northside credo “Loud Food and Spicy Music” says it all.  This establishment is a definite “must” for any out of town cigar lovers looking for an entertaining night out on the town with a casual atmosphere.  You can bet the ACC will be booking future activities at the Northside.  Check out their web site and tell them the Akron Cigar Club sent you. http://www.northsideclub.com/index.htm

Mike Lenz

Mike Lenz was our entertainment for the evening. He describes his musical selection as "American roots music, especially blues from the Mississippi Delta, Memphis, and Piedmont regions". You’ll also hear some Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and other 50’s and 60’s era Chicago blues. Along with those classic blues he includes in his repertoire a collection other very recognizable tunes.

Mike has been playing music for at least 24 years and has been making money at it for at least the last 10. This night he was playing a Gibson F-hole and a copy of a National Standard Steel guitar, a harmonica and a few drums. The combination was a great break from the single instrument shows.

Mike has included a link to the Akron Cigar Club on his site. Thanks.

  Rachel Roberts

Rachel is an incredibly talented young singer/songwriter. Only 21 and already relatively new at performing, she has made an impression on the Cigar Club members who witnessed her impromptu session. Her voice was angelic and her original music were enticing. If you haven't noticed, she is also stunningly beautiful. What a combination.

She has been writing songs for about 6 years and playing guitar for about four. Although she only recently started guitar lessons you get the impressions she has been playing for a long long time.
